Structure and Scope

The management bodies of the Croatian National Tourist Board are the Assembly, the Tourism Council and the President of the CNTB. The function of the President is performed by the Minister of Tourism, and the head of the CNTB is a director elected for a term of four years. The work of the CNTB includes the planning and implementation of a promotional strategy and other activities aimed at the further development of the Croatian tourism sector.

President of the Croatian National Tourist Board

 

Tourism has been at the heart of Tonči Glavina’s professional journey. He currently serves as the Minister of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Croatia, bringing with him extensive experience and a strong commitment to the development of Croatia’s tourism sector.

Prior to his appointment as Minister, he served two terms as State Secretary for Tourism, where he played a key role in shaping national tourism policy. Earlier in his career, he was the Director and a Management Board member at Eklat, a company based in Split specialising in tourism destination management, with a particular focus on children’s and youth tourism.

From 2014 to 2017, he led the Klis Business Incubator, a municipal organisation responsible for implementing the development strategy of the Municipality of Klis. His work there centred on tourism and destination management, project development, grant funding and support for entrepreneurship.

Tonči Glavina holds an MBA from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware, USA.

Kristjan Staničić

Kristjan Staničić

Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board

 

The Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, has gained extensive experience in the tourism sector since his early youth and during his career, he worked, among other positions, as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Sales at Hoteli Novi, where he later served as a member of the company's Management Board.

He also held the positions of President of the Management Board of Liburnia Riviera Hotels, President of the Management Board of the Crikvenica hotel company Jadran and Executive Director of Sales and Marketing and then President of the Management Board of Bernardin Hotel in Portorož, Slovenia.

He was appointed Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board in July 2017, and since 2020, he has also been Vice-President of the European Travel Commission (ETC).

Scope of Activity

 

The activities of the CNTB are regulated by special laws and by-laws, the primary one being the Law on Tourist Boards and the Promotion of Croatian Tourism. The most important sources of its revenue are tourist fees, membership fees, the state budget, etc., while activities are carried out in accordance with the Annual Work Programme. Our main activities include:

  • activities aimed at branding and promoting the Croatian tourism offer;
  • bringing together the national tourism offer;
  • conducting market research and publishing analyses;
  • managing the eVisitor system;
  • coordinating tourist boards and partners, etc.

Representative offices

Our network of offices and branch offices is globally widespread, and they were all established for the purpose of promotion, market analysis and other professional activities related to the promotion of Croatian tourism.

Our offices and branch offices promote Croatian tourism abroad in accordance with the strategic marketing plan for Croatian tourism and based on the work programme and financial plan for the current year. They collaborate, in countries where they were established, with diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Croatia in carrying out promotional and other activities of interest to the Republic of Croatia.
