Legal Framework

The tourist board system consists of independent legal persons, which are not state or public bodies but special organisations established on the basis of a special regulation in order to promote tourism and carry out tourism-related activities of general interest. The activities of tourist boards are based on the principle of general utility.

The structure, tasks and manner of operation and the basic principles of their financing and management, as well as their establishment, dissolution and supervision is based, among others, on the following acts:

Law on Tourist Boards and the Promotion of Croatian Tourism;

  • Law on Tourist Board Membership Fees;
  • Law on Tourist Fees;
  • Law on Tourism; and their implementing regulations.

These laws and implementing regulations are the responsibility of the ministry that carries out administrative and other tasks related to the tourism policy of the Republic of Croatia, and are available at the following link: https://mint.gov.hr/pristup-informacijama/propisi/propisi-iz-turizma/107.
